Still can’t quite believe an earthquake just occurred here on the main line.  Thankfully, the gentle rumble has made way for a delightful food pun in today’s Hot From the Kitchen recipe for Oreo milkshakes.

While you may think this item just fits well with the day’s events, milkshake bars have actually become a popular feature at many catered events.  Offering a few different mix ins as well as two or three types of ice cream gives your guests options for dessert outside of the classic miniature pastries.  Serve them in a shot glass and they become an hors d’oeuvre that is sure to be a conversation piece.  Enjoy this cool sweet treat as the summer slowly comes to a close; here’s hoping for a smooth finish.

Oreo Milkshakes

Serves: 4- 1 cup servings

4- 8 oz glasses

12 Oreo Cookies (8 for the shake, 4 for garnish)

1 C. Ice Cold Milk

2 C. Of Your Favorite Brand of Vanilla Ice Cream

Directions-

  1. Pour 1 T. of chocolate syrup into the bottom of each glass.
  2. Finely chop 4 cookies and set aside.
  3. Crush remaining cookies slightly and place in blender with milk and ice cream.  Blend until smooth.  (If you like your shake thicker, reduce the milk by ¼ cup, if you like it thinner add ¼ cup.)
  4. Evenly distribute the milkshake between the 4 chocolate coated glasses.  Top with cookie garnish and serve immediately.
