Fundraisers hold a special place in our hearts at J. Scott Catering.  The opportunity to help out a great cause is just one of the many wonderful aspects of being in the catering business.  The first Friday in May brought us to Phoenixville Foundry to cater a fundraiser for the Love for Logan organization.

On Monday July, 25 2011 Logan was caught under water for about 10 minutes in a flooded creek. He was pulled out and resuscitated and brought to Bryn Mawr hospital then later transferred to CHOP. He received treatment and therapy for several months at CHOP.  Logan is now at home receiving daily care.  The road to recovery has begun.

The mounting medical bills for therapy and care have placed a heavy burden on Logan’s family.  In an effort to alleviate some of the costs the friends and family of Logan teamed up with Help Hope Live and nonprofit organization aimed at helping the families of patients facing catastrophic injuries with the costs associated with care and therapy not covered by insurance.

Friday, May 4, 2012, the Luv4Logan Gala was held at Phoenixville Foundry.  The theme A Night at the Carnival was designed to bring a smile to the family during these incredibly tough times.  The fundraiser featured both a live and silent auction offering items including a trip to the Cayman Islands, Hawaii and Avalon beach in New Jersey among other things.

J. Scott Catering offered guests the fare at the fair.  Cocktails and passed hors d’oeuvres were served on the mezzanine and throughout the Cupola ballroom.  Guests enjoyed a sampling of our signature mini Caesar salads in parmesan tuile cups, steamed vegetable dumplings served with sweet chili sauce, mini jump lump crab cakes with chili crème fraiche, the classic bacon wrapped scallop with horseradish dipping sauce and finally, beef tenderloin on Ficelle round with watercress mayo and capers.  Two stationary hors d’oeuvres were offered; one on the mezzanine and one in the Cupola ballroom, to accommodate the 500 plus guests in attendance.   Stationary items included Philadelphia soft pretzel nuggets with honey mustard, spicy mustard and whole grain mustard and fresh popped popcorn served from classic paper cones.

Entrees were served from stations including the sandwich station, the hot dog cart and gourmet French fry station.  The sandwich station offered guests a variety of Gyros including chicken, fish, lamb or vegetarian as well as grilled vegetables and a bountiful baby arugula salad with Champagne strawberry vinaigrette.  The hot dog cart featured two types of hot dogs; all beef and a beef and pork blend, served in potato bun with condiments on the side; ketchup, mustards and relish as well as chili, and cheese whiz.  The gourmet French fry station served sweet potato fries and standard Russet fries; each offered with ketchup, chili, cheese and malt vinegar.

We were so happy to be involved in this great cause.  Thank you to all who participated including the guests who attended and purchased auction items, the staff at the Foundry and the J. Scott team.  Most of all we would like to pass on our thoughts and best wishes to the Schweiter family in the challenges ahead.
