We always love bringing our families to the office whether it’s to help out or just have fun learning about food. When Scott’s daughter Isabelle and her Girl Scout troop needed an opportunity to earn a badge, our team was very excited to pull together to make a fun afternoon for the girls.
The girls arrived after school to our office packed with energy and ready to learn about cooking and helping others to earn their simple meals badge. Before they got started cooking everyone toured the warehouse and kitchen to get a feel for what goes on at J Scott Catering every day.
After their tour the girls made their way to the prep tables in the kitchen to learn how to make chicken divan with Executive Chef Erin Morrison. With two young daughters, Erin was ready to answer lots of questions, talk over plenty of giggles and teach the girls how to make a delicious and simple meal to earn their badge. Once the dish was cooked it was brought to a homeless shelter for a multipurpose lesson emphasizing teamwork, helping others and learning important life skills.
Once the girls had finished cooking for the homeless shelter they made their way back up to the office for pizza and fun. As they laughed the afternoon away it reminded us to take a step back and enjoy the simple moments in life like laughs over a slice.
