There is no more picturesque venue this time of year than Radnor Hunt in Malvern, PA. Its quaint mansion, rolling hills and vast tree line backdrop make it ideal for fall weddings and events.  Recently we catered a wedding that highlighted the end of summer turn to fall with subtle elements from both seasons.

The couple chose a color scheme of ivory and brown accented with pale pinks and yellows in the floral centerpieces.  Guest table linens were ivory stripe with chocolate brown napkins accompanied by a dark walnut chair and beige cushion. The couple customized the table setting by printing their own menu cards with a pastel green tree on beige cardstock with brown print above which sat a single Lily of the Valley stem. The couple said their vows beneath the great tree on the back lawn as the sun set softly over the landscape bathing all with butter yellow light.  What more could a bride ask for of a venue?

As guests made their way in to the small ballroom for cocktail hour the bridal party remained outside to take pictures in the sunset.  After grabbing a cocktail, beer, wine or soda, guests could mingle about while sampling the couple’s choices for passed hors d’oeuvres.  Selections included vegetable pot stickers with ponzu sauce, sundried tomato and goat cheese tarts and the J. Scott signature mini Caesar salad in parmesan tuile basket.  Other options included traditional bacon wrapped scallops with horseradish cream, lime marinated chicken skewers with avocado cream dip, and chow chow beef skewers.  An artisanal cheese display complete with crackers, flavored mustards and juicy grapes served as the centerpiece of the small ballroom on a round table with rustic baskets for flatbreads and breadsticks and both tall and short clear vases with wheat for décor.

From the small ballroom guests moved to the main ballroom for the dinner portion of the reception.  The first course featured a mixed field green salad with tomatoes, toasted pine nuts and goat cheese drizzled with raspberry vinaigrette.  Predetermined entrée choices included filet mignon with demi-glace and fresh wild salmon filet with mustard seed and horseradish crust; both accompanied by haricot vert with toasted sliced almonds and brown butter.

For dessert guests tasted the wedding cake with a unique stucco icing design. It was the sweet finish to a beautiful wedding day.  Big thanks to the couple’s families, the staff at Radnor Hunt and the J. Scott Catering team who all came together to make this wonderful event possible.
